Two Years of AgencyLand

Celebrating the Joy of Being ‘In It Together’

Two Years of AgencyLand

There are plenty of things the agency world has learned to take seriously beyond the endless client lunches of the early 2000’s. Margins. Utilisation. Effectiveness. New business. Deadlines. The latest technology promising to change everything we've been doing for the past 20 years.

And then there's AgencyLand, which has spent the past two years reminding us that working in an agency should also be about enjoying the work, the journey and the company of good people.

This September, AgencyLand celebrates its second birthday. At Blutui, we were delighted to partner with Ellie Hale to help mark the occasion, celebrate the independent agency community, and recognise something that can get lost in the day-to-day business of running an agency: the value of friendship, shared experience and a little bit of joy.

Because sometimes, the most useful thing someone in our industry can offer isn't another framework, a productivity hack or a 47-slide presentation on the future of AI. It's a conversation with someone who gets it.

Two years of making agency life a little more human

AgencyLand was created around a simple but meaningful idea: agencies and the people who work in them deserve a community where they can connect, share, learn and support one another.

Not another polished industry initiative with a strategic vision, a brand platform and a launch event that costs more than the average indie agency's annual coffee budget.

Something more human.

A place where agency people can talk about the realities of the work, celebrate the wins, share the challenges and find a little solidarity in the knowledge that others are navigating many of the same things.

Over the past two years, AgencyLand has brought together people from across the independent agency community, creating space for positive practices, meaningful connections and the sort of conversations that don't always happen in the formal settings of our industry.

And that matters.

The agency business can be enormously rewarding, but it can also be demanding. The pressure to deliver exceptional creative work, retain clients, protect margins and keep pace with a rapidly changing technology landscape is very real. For many independent agencies, those responsibilities sit with a relatively small team of people who care deeply about what they do.

Having a community that understands the highs, the lows and the occasional absurdity of agency life is no small thing.

The independent agency community needs each other

At Blutui, our connection to the independent agency world runs deep. We were born inside an independent agency, after decades of working in advertising and digital, watching talented people spend too much time wrestling with fragmented technology and production processes.

Our belief has always been that technology should help agencies make more of their talent, not take away the things that make them valuable.

That belief extends beyond software. It includes the relationships agencies build with one another, the generosity of people willing to share what they've learned, and the recognition that a healthy industry is one where people aren't constantly expected to compete at the expense of community.

AgencyLand embodies that spirit. Ellie Hale has created a space where positive practices and genuine connection can coexist. The emphasis on joy is particularly welcome in an industry that can sometimes confuse exhaustion with commitment and relentless busyness with success.

There is no shortage of pressure in agency life. A bit more joy shouldn't be considered a radical operating model.

Celebrating two, together

Our partnership with Ellie and AgencyLand's second birthday celebration was an opportunity to do something that sits very naturally with Blutui: support the people and communities who make the agency world what it is.

We believe in the independent agency. We believe in the value of creative talent, in the importance of trusted client relationships and in building a more sustainable future for agencies that want to remain independent, ambitious and profitable.

But we also believe that the future of our industry shouldn't be measured exclusively in revenue growth, headcount or efficiency gains.

It should also be measured in the quality of the relationships we build, the support we offer each other and whether the people doing the work have a reason to enjoy being part of it.

That's why AgencyLand's second birthday deserves a proper celebration.

Two years of bringing people together. Two years of positive practices. Two years of conversations, connections and friendship. And hopefully, plenty more joy to come.

Happy 2nd birthday, AgencyLand.

Congratulations to Ellie Hale and everyone who has helped create and sustain this wonderful community. We're proud to have partnered with you and look forward to seeing where the next chapter takes you.

Here's to the independent agencies, the people behind them and the communities that remind us we're in this together.
